At QED we are fully committed to providing a civil engineering and groundworks service that is both sustainable and environmentally responsible. Our aim is to minimise and mitigate the impact our work has on the environment.
The QED Environment Policy sets out the arrangements and systems we have in place to help ensure environmental sustainability and how we comply with environmental regulations. A copy of the policy is available on request.
We recycle and use recycled materials wherever possible – minimising the amount of waste created by our services. This includes using crushing buckets to recycle materials on site, which reduces transportation to off-site waste transfer stations and landfill. We also source pipework made from recycled plastic for drainage and ductwork.
All timber is sourced from FSC certified suppliers. In addition, we avoid the use of one-use shuttering systems – we have been using our own Doka Formwork System for over 15 years.
The aggregates we use are sourced from suppliers such as Blue Phoenix, who utilise incinerator ash, brick, glass, and ceramics to manufacture Type 1 aggregates. We also use low carbon concretes wherever possible.
Our plant vehicles use the latest CAT6 diesel engines with lower emissions. We’re also seeking to modernise our fleet of vans to further reduce pollution. We have adopted the use of HVO Fuel.
